Greenhouse gas monsters in "Energy War" APP

For most people, "Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction" is a slogan, but students from the Department of Interactive Media Design at Taipei Tech have combined education with entertainment through developing an Android APP called “Energy War” to teach young children the importance of saving energy. Player could choose one of the 10 characters that stand for 10 eco-friendly energies to protect the world from the greenhouse gas monster.“Energy War” is one of the projects sponsored by the Ministry of Education.

"Energy Wa" APP

The Ministry of Education spends a total of 20 billion NTD dollars toelevate the technical and vocational education in the second phase of the “Technical and Vocational Education Reconstruction Project”from 2014-2017. A presentation was held on December, 11th, 2014 in Taipei. Among all the presentations, the APP “Energy War”, designed by the Department of Interactive Media Design from Taipei Tech caught the most attention. People would learn knowledge relevant to renewable energy source through this game said Sheng-Ming Wang, assistant professor of the Department of Interactive Media Design from Taipei Tech.

The Director General of the Department of Technological and Vocational Education Yen-Yi Lee notes that the purpose of the “Technical and Vocational Education Reconstruction Project” is to make sure that students have the ability and skill they needed in their workplace before they graduated from school. Therefore, the Ministry of Education has been funding to help schools upgrading the equipment so that the students would have a better learning environment. On top of that, the Ministry of Education also assist student to find internship in industry and to experience how it is like to work in the field. Over 2,000 students were benefited from this project so far.
