With fuel cell power generator, massive electric consume will be reduced in electricity system and transportation system. Therefore, fuel cell power generator has been regarding as a perspective area in market. The Center of EMO Materials and Nanotechnology at Taipei Tech and NIMS Japan signed MOU on April 9th2015 in order to conduct joint research project on fuel cell power generator. This ceremony is a milestone on green energy R&D in Taiwan.
NIMS is one of the biggest scientific research facility in Japanand is famous for material science. Their research areas include key energy & environmental material, Nano technique, Nano material, information technique material, bio technique Nano material, environmental & energy material, and reliable & safe material, etc.
The Center of EMO Materials and Nanotechnology was founded in 2003 and has been assisting industry to develop Micrometer and Nano optimal, electric, and magnetic materials. Moreover, The Center of EMO Materials and Nanotechnology also provides education training to facilitate academia-industry collaboration.
The fuel cell power generator that Taipei Tech developed uses SOFCfuel cell. Household installation of fuel cell was taken place in some advanced countries such as America, Australia, and Japan. AfterFukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station explosion, the installation need surged in Japan, according to Taiwan Institute of Economic Research. But with limitation of regulations, fuel cell power generator can be not purchased as product in Taiwan yet.
Sea Fue Wang, professor from the Department of Materials & Mineral Resources Engineeringat Taipei Tech notes that Taiwan has the advanced technique of producing fuel cell power generator from scratch. In the future, Taipei Tech hopes to work with NIMS and Taiwan system integrator to develop a more user-friendly fuel cell power generator that can make better living for people’s live.
